- La síntesis vectorial es un tipo de síntesis de audio introducida por Sequential Circuits en el sintetizador durante el año 1986. El concepto fue subsecuentemente utilizado por Yamaha en sus modelos y y en el modelo de Korg. La síntesis vectorial le brinda movimiento al sonido proveyendo cross-fading dinámico entre -típicamente- cuatro fuentes de sonido. Estas cuatro fuentes de sonido son conceptualmente arregladas como los puntos extremos de los ejes X e Y, y son generalmente etiquetados como A, B, C y D. Una mezcla dada de cuatro fuentes de sonido puede ser representada como un único punto, un 'vector plano'. El movimiento de este punto en el espacio es lo que brinda la particularidad sonora de la síntesis. La mezcla es típicamente realizada con un joystick, lo que no quita que también el punto sea controlado utilizando generadores de envolventes o LFOs (Osciladores de Baja de Frecuencia, por sus siglas en inglés). - Vector Synthesis is a type of audio synthesis introduced by Sequential Circuits in the Prophet VS synthesizer during 1986. The concept was subsequently used by Yamaha in the SY22/ and similar instruments and by Korg in the Wavestation. Vector synthesis provides movement in a sound by providing dynamic cross-fading between (usually) four sound sources. The four sound sources are conceptually arranged as the extreme points of X and Y axes, and typically labelled A, B, C and D. A given mix of the four sound sources can be represented by a single point in this 'vector plane'. Movement of the point provides sonic interest and is the power of this technique. Mixing is frequently done using a joystick, although the point can be controlled using envelope generators or LFOs. (en)
