En sus orígenes fue suministradora de baterías de Samsung, y en 2001 comenzó a fabricar teléfonos bajo la marca VK Mobile. Actualmente se dirige principalmente a los mercados domésticos de Japón, Hong Kong, China, Europa, Australia, Taiwán, Estados Unidos y Canadá. Sus terminales se caracterizan por un cuidado diseño y que incorporan la última tecnología en móviles: pantallas OLED, conectividad Bluetooth, etc. Hasta la fecha, su principal tecnología patentada ha sido la CDMA (Code division multiple access), pero tiene planes de seguir investigando en el campo de la telefonía móvil. - VK Mobile was a South Korean company specialising in manufacturing mobile phone terminals. It was part of the brand name VK (short for Viable Korea) which was established in 2001. It originally started as an importer of Lithium ion polymer batteries for mobile phones in 1997, but began production of its own batteries in 2000 and mobile phones in 2001. VK Mobile targeted primarily markets in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Europe, Australia, Taiwan, United States and Canada. The main technology has been CDMA and PCS but there have been also plans to expand into other areas. The CEO of the company, Yi Cheol-sang, was already famous before he started business as one of the leaders of South Korean student activism. On July 7, 2006, VK Mobile filed for bankruptcy after it suffered several financial difficulties resulting from operational loss. (en)

VK 모바일의 주 타겟 시장은 일본, 홍콩, 중국, 유럽, 오스트레일리아, 중화민국, 미국, 캐나다 등이었다. 핵심 기술은 CDMA와 PCS 기술이었지만, 다른 영역으로의 진출도 계획하였었다. 회사의 CEO였던 이철상은 학생 운동 경력으로도 잘 알려져 있다. 하지만 영업 손실에서 비롯된 자금난으로 2006년 7월 7일에 최종 부도처리되어 법정관리에 들어갔고, 2009년 12월 수원지방법원으로부터 회생절차 폐지 결정을 받으면서 VK 모바일은 역사의 뒤안길로 사라지게 되었다.
