- L'IAE V2500 SuperFan fou un estudi de disseny d'un turboventilador d'engranatges de molt alt índex de derivació desenvolupat a partir de l'IAE V2500. Desenvolupat per l'aliança d'empreses International Aero Engines, fou ofert com a opció de planta motriu principal del futur avió comercial europeu Airbus A340 a mitjans de la dècada del 1980. Tot i que diversos clients havien signat contractes preliminars per a aquesta versió del motor, el març del 1987 els dirigents d'IAE decidiren aturar el desenvolupament del SuperFan, cosa que obligà Airbus a revisar parcialment el disseny de l'A340. - The IAE V2500SF SuperFan was a design study for a high-bypass geared turbofan derived from the IAE V2500. It was offered as the primary engine option for the Airbus A340 in January 1987. Although several customers signed preliminary contracts for this variant, the International Aero Engines board decided in April 1987 to stop the development of the SuperFan, which forced Airbus to partly re-design the A340. Bien que plusieurs clients eurent signé des contrats préliminaires pour cette version du moteur, les dirigeants de la société IAE décidèrent, en mars 1987, d'arrêter le développement du SuperFan, ce qui força par ailleurs Airbus à partiellement revoir la conception de son A340.
