University student retention, sometimes referred to as persistence, is a process to try to improve graduation rates and decrease a loss of tuition revenue via programs such via peer pressure, student academic programs, counselor and faculty monitoring, and financial and academic support. It is targeted at students that either drop out or transfer to other schools.
