- El Partido Unionista (PU) es un partido político guatemalteco de derecha conservadora. Su principal figura es el expresidente y cinco veces alcalde de la Ciudad de Guatemala, Álvaro Arzú. El partido se origina en el seno del Partido de Avanzada Nacional, por pugnas entre dos facciones que se disputaban la dirigencia del mismo. El pleito finalizó con la escisión de un importante número de miembros del PAN hacia un comité pro formación de una nueva agrupación política, que vendría dando origen al PU. Constituyéndose en la agrupación política más fuerte del distrito electoral más grande del país, logrando reelegirse 6 veces en la Alcaldía de la Ciudad de Guatemala. (es)
- The Unionist Party (Partido Unionista) is a conservative political party in Guatemala, who advocates the re-creation of a Central American union. At the legislative elections, 9 November 2003, the party won 6.2% of the popular vote and 7 out of 158 seats. Its presidential candidate Fritz García Gallont won 3.0% at the presidential elections of the same day. At the 2007 elections, the party again chose Garcia as its presidential candidate. He won 2.92% of the vote. The party won 8 seats in the congressional elections. The party has been a member of the centre-right International Democrat Union since 2008 and is associated with the Union of Latin American Parties. It is not to be confused with the party of the same name formed in 1920. (en)
