Ulysses Sherman Grant (February 14, 1867 in Moline, Illinois - September 21, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American geologist. He was the son of Lewis A. Grant and Mary Helen Pierce. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with B.S. in 1888, and received a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1893. In 1899, he became professor of geology at Northwestern University. He soon became the chairman of the geology department, a position he held until his death. In 1899, Professor Grant inspected the Brule, Wisconsin area for ancient copper deposits.
