- USS Abner Read (DD-769) was a planned United States Navy Gearing-class destroyer laid down during World War II but never completed. The ship was to be the second ship named for Abner Read (1821–1863), a United States Navy officer killed during the American Civil War. She was assigned the name during construction when the first Abner Read (DD-526), a Fletcher-class destroyer, was sunk by a kamikaze during the Battle of Leyte, 1 November 1944. (en)
- アブナー・リード (USS Abner Read, DD-769) は、アメリカ海軍の駆逐艦。ギアリング級駆逐艦の1隻。艦名は南北戦争で活躍し戦死した中佐にちなむ。その名を持つ艦としてはアブナー・リード (DD-526)に続いて2隻目。 アブナー・リードは先代と同様にサンフランシスコのベスレヘム・スチールで1944年5月21日に起工する。しかし、日本の敗北が決定的となって駆逐艦の整備計画も大幅に縮小されることとなった。終戦から1年を経た1946年9月13日に建造が中止されたが、建造のペースの関係か船体は進水前の状態で船台上にあったようである。その後、レイテ沖海戦での戦没艦の名前を受け継いで同じくベスレヘム・スチールで建造されていたが、やはり建造中止になったホーエル (USS Hoel, DD-768) とともに船台上で解体された。 (ja)
