- Turgo es una pequeña colina basáltica en la ladera sur del monte Merapi, Indonesia, y también se conoce como Gunung Turgo o monte Turgo . Está ubicado administrativamente en Purwobinangun, Pakem, Sleman Regency, Región Especial de Yogyakarta. Un trabajo reciente sugiere que la colina en sí es más antigua que el actual cono volcánico de Gunung Merapi. Está justo al oeste de Plawangan, el valle entre los dos ha sido objeto de nuée ardente en la década de 1990 que mató a los aldeanos locales. - Bukit Turgo adalah nama sebuah bukit dan dusun yang terletak di Dusun Turgo, Desa Purwobinangun, Kecamatan Pakem, Kabupaten Sleman dan berada dekat dengan Gunung Merapi dan berada di sebelah barat Kaliurang, Sleman. Di Bukit Turgo terdapat Dusun Turgo yang dimanfaatkan sebagai kawasan wisata, meskipun lokasi tersebut rawan bencana Merapi dan pernah dilanda awan panas pada tahun 1994. Selain itu bencana awan panas yang terakhir di dusun ini adalah pada tahun 2006 yang mengakibatkan pepohonan di bukit Turgo terbakar habis. Bukit Turgo mempunyai ketinggian 1000mdpl. Bukit Turgo kemungkinan merupakan hasil dari letusan Gunung Merapi Purba dan tersusun dari endapan lava basaltik. (in)

It is administratively located in Purwobinangun, Pakem, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Recent work suggests that the hill itself is older than the present volcanic cone of Gunung Merapi. It is just west of Plawangan, the valley between the two has been subject to nuée ardente in the 1990s which killed local villagers. Despite the very small area on the peak of Turgo, it has some sacred graves that are attributed to be connected with Sheikh Jumadil Qubro, a direct descendant of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, and as consequence is considered to be part of the complex network of graves that constitute the Javanese sacred placesDutch anthropologist Martin van Bruinessen has written about this character following his residence in Yogyakarta. It is also located within the Plawangan Turgo nature reserve, a 200 ha (490-acre) nature reserve on the slope of Merapi that has rare animals and plants occurring in its area. (en)
