- Un toup (également appelé toop, prao toop ou perahu toop) est un type de grand voilier malais construit dans les Indes orientales entre le XVIIIe et le début du XXe siècle plus grand qu'un padewakang et possédant un gréement mixte local et européen, contrairement au padewakang à voile . Il possède deux à trois mâts gréés en voile tanja, au tiers ou à corne. Appeared at the end of the 18th century, and built in local shipyards, this type of boat is one of the results of the incorporation of 'Western' and 'Nusantaran' technologies that began in the shipyards of the 17th and 18th European trading companies. This type of boat is commonly used for long-distance shipping. In the first half of the 19th century, this was the most common type of boat used by sailors and traders in Nusantara.
