- Το Tons of Sobs είναι το πρώτο στούντιο άλμπουμ του βρετανικού ροκ συγκροτήματος Free, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε το Νοέμβριο του 1968 μέσω της δισκογραφικής εταιρείας "Island Records". Στην πατρίδα του συγκροτήματος εκδόθηκε στις 14 Μαρτίου 1969, ενώ επανεκδόθηκε με οκτώ επιπλέον κομμάτια σε μορφή CD, στις 8 Οκτωβρίου 2001 από την "Universal Distribution". Κατά την ηχογράφηση του εν λόγω δίσκου, κανένα από τα μέλη των Free δεν είχε φθάσει στο εικοστό έτος της ηλικίας του. Ο προϋπολογισμός για το δίσκο ήταν μόλις 800 λίρες Αγγλίας, με τον παραγωγό Γκάι Στίβενς να πραγματοποιεί μία μινιμαλιστική προσέγγιση με ωμό και τραχύ μπλουζ ήχο. Σε σύγκριση με τους επόμενους δίσκους του συγκροτήματος, η συμμετοχή του μπασίστα Άντι Φρέιζερ στη σύνθεση των τραγουδιών είναι περιορισμένη, με τον τραγουδιστή Πωλ Ρότζερς να έχει αναλάβει αυτό το ρόλο. Οι κριτικές για το δίσκο είναι ιδιαίτερα θετικές με το "AllMusic" να του δίνει 4,5 αστέρια. Free are cited as one of the definitive bands of the British blues boom of the late 1960s, even though this is the only album of their canon that can strictly be called blues rock. According to group bassist Andy Fraser, the title effectively summed up the album. It had the band’s first minor hit "I’m A Mover", which was released as a single in December 1968. (en)
