- Die Regierung Hughes III war die dreizehnte Regierung Australiens. Sie amtierte vom 17. Februar 1917 bis zum 10. Januar 1918. Alle Mitglieder der Regierung gehörten der National Party of Australia an. Die Vorgängerregierung war eine Minderheitsregierung der National Labor Party (NLP) – einer Abspaltung der Wehrpflichtbefürworter der Labor Party – unter Premierminister Billy Hughes, die von der Liberal Party (LP) unterstützt wurde. Im Februar 1917 vereinigten sich die NLP und die LP zur Nationalist Party of Australia, die die dritte Regierung Hughes stellte. Bei der gewann die Nationalist Party eine absolute Mehrheit in Repräsentantenhaus und Senat. Am 20. Dezember 1917 fand, wie schon im Oktober 1916, erneut eine Volksabstimmung über die Einführung der Wehrpflicht statt. Die Mehrheit gegen die Wehrpflicht war noch größer als bei der ersten Abstimmung. Premierminister Hughes trat, wie vor der Abstimmung im Fall einer Niederlage versprochen, am 8. Januar zurück, blieb aber Vorsitzender der Nationalist Party. - The Third Hughes ministry (Nationalist) was the 13th ministry of the Government of Australia. It was led by the country's 7th Prime Minister, Billy Hughes. The Third Hughes ministry succeeded the Second Hughes ministry, which dissolved on 17 February 1917 after the governing National Labor Party merged with the Liberal Party to form the Nationalist Party. The National Labor Party itself formed as a consequence of the split that took place within the then-governing Labor Party over the issue of conscription. The ministry was replaced by the Fourth Hughes ministry on 8 January 1918 following the resignation of Hughes as Prime Minister after a vote of no-confidence within the Nationalist Party in the wake of a failed second referendum on conscription. However, due to a lack of alternative leaders, Hughes was immediately re-commissioned as Prime Minister by Governor-General Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson. Billy Hughes, who died in 1952, was the last surviving member of the Third Hughes ministry; Hughes was also the last surviving member of the Watson ministry, First Fisher ministry, Third Fisher ministry and Second Hughes ministry. Był pierwszym gabinetem tworzonym przez nowo założoną Nacjonalistyczną Partię Australii (NPA), która powstała w wyniku fuzji Narodowej Partii Pracy, kierowanej przez premiera Billy’ego Hughesa, ze Związkową Partią Liberalną, której przewodził były premier Joseph Cook. Gabinet urzędował przez niespełna trzy miesiące, do przeprowadzonych w maju 1917 wyborów, które przyniosły zdecydowane zwycięstwo NPA, dzięki czemu powołany po wyborach czwarty gabinet Hughesa był w znacznej mierze kontynuacją trzeciego gabinetu tego premiera.
