- The Stereos, (d'abord connu sous le nom de The Buckeyes de 1955 à 1959) est un groupe américain de doo-wop, rock et pop en activité jusqu'à la fin des années 1960. - The Stereos were an American pop/rock/doo-wop group from Steubenville, Ohio. They began as The Buckeyes around 1955 with members Bruce Robinson and Ronnie Collins, and released two singles on the Cincinnati label Deluxe Records in 1957. In 1959, the group added Leroy Swearingen and released their first single as The Stereos, "A Love for Only You"; it flopped, and Swearingen left the group to be replaced by Nathaniel Hicks. Swearingen, however, wrote the song "I Really Love You", which became their biggest hit, peaking at number 15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. They continued releasing singles up until 1968, none of which came close to reaching the success of "I Really Love You". George Harrison covered "I Really Love You" for his 1982 album Gone Troppo. Bruce Robinson en Ronnie Collins begonnen de groep rond 1955 als The Buckeyes, wat de bijnaam is van Ohio. Swearingen liet de groep echter wel een compositie van hem na, namelijk I really love you, die de grootste hit voor The Stereos zou worden. In 1961 kwam de single op nummer 15 van de U.S. Black Singles (R&B) terecht en op nummer 29 van de Billboard Hot 100. Verder werd het gecoverd door George Harrison die het in 1982 op zijn album Gone Troppo plaatste. Ook hierna brachten The Stereos nog verschillende singles uit, maar verder succes bleef uit. (nl)
