- الفريق بي (بالإنجليزية: Team B) كان جزءا من بدأ بواسطة موظفى الحكومة الأمريكية في سبعينات القرن العشرين لتحليل المعلومات الاستخبارية على الاتحاد السوفيتي. الفريق بى كان عبارة عن مجموعة من الخبراء غير العاملين في الاستخبارات ليقابلوا مجموعة من موظفى وكالة الاستخبارات الأمريكية المعروفين باسم الفريق إيه (بالإنجليزية: Team A) . عارض الفريق بى تقديرات المخابرات الوطنية بشأن الاتحاد السوفيتى تلك التقديرات التي يتم إنتاجها سنويا، وكان وجه الاعتراض أن هذه التقديرات قللت من حجم القوة العسكرية السوفيتية، ولم تستطع تفسير نوايا السوفييت الاستراتيجية.ماتوصل اليه الفريق تم تسريبه للصحافة في محاولة غير ناجحة ضمن لإخراج جيمي كارتر من عرضه الرئاسى عام 1976. تقارير الفريق بى أصبحت الأساس الفكرى لفكرة نافذة الثغرات والتدعيم الهائل للقدرات العسكرية والذي ابتدأ بنهاية فترة كارتر وبداية فترة رونالد ريجان. تم التصديق على الفريق بى من قبل مدير المخابرات المركزية جورج بوش الأب.كان عدد أعضاء الفريق ستة عشرة خبيرا من خارج الوكالة ليقوموا بمراجعة بيانات عالية السرية مستخدمة داخل الوكالة وذلك لتقييم حسابات الوكالة السنوية للقدرات الاستراتيجية السوفيتية. كان هناك ثلاثة فرق:
* فريق قام بدراسة قدرات الدفاع الجوى المنخفضة للسوفييت.
* فريق قام بفحص قدرات الصواريخ الروسية الباليستية العابرة للقارات.
* وفريق قام بالتحقيق في السياسة الاستراتيجية الروسية وأهدافها. و الفريق الثالث المرؤوس باستاذ هارفارد ريتشارد بايبس، هو الذي نال في النهاية قدر كاف من الشهرة وهو عامة ما يرمز اليه بالفريق بى في وسائل الاعلام. (ar)
- Team B (« Équipe B ») était le nom donné à un groupe d'analyse parallèle commissionné par la CIA dans les années 1970 qui avait pour but de fournir une contre-analyse des conclusions de la CIA en analysant les mêmes informations. La CIA était appelée « Équipe A » (Team A). John Paisley était chargé par la CIA d'être l'agent de liaison entre les deux, contrôlant l'information allant de l'équipe A à l'équipe B (qui avait accès à des documents top secrets). (fr)
- Team B was a competitive analysis exercise commissioned by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to analyze threats the Soviet Union posed to the security of the United States. It was created, in part, due to a 1974 publication by Albert Wohlstetter, who accused the CIA of chronically underestimating Soviet military capability. Years of National Intelligence Estimates (NIE) that were later demonstrated to be very wrong were another motivating factor. President Gerald Ford began the Team B project in May 1976, inviting a group of outside experts to evaluate classified intelligence on the Soviet Union. Team B, approved by then-Director of Central Intelligence George H. W. Bush, was composed of "outside experts" who attempted to counter the arguments of intelligence officials within the CIA. The intelligence community was in the process of putting together its own assessment at the same time. Team B concluded that the NIE on the Soviet Union, compiled and produced annually by the CIA, chronically underestimated Soviet military power and misinterpreted Soviet strategic intentions. Its findings were leaked to the press shortly after Jimmy Carter's 1976 presidential election win in an attempt to appeal to staunch anticommunists in both parties and also not to appear partisan. The Team B reports became the intellectual foundation for the idea of "the window of vulnerability" and of the massive arms buildup that began toward the end of the Carter administration and accelerated under President Ronald Reagan. Some scholars and policy-makers, including Anne Hessing Cahn of the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, later criticized the Team B project's findings. Many of these experts argued that the findings were grossly inaccurate. (en)
