- Tales from the Thousand Lakes (v překladu z angličtiny příběhy z tisíce jezer) je druhé studiové album finské death/doomové hudební skupiny Amorphis z roku 1994, které vyšlo u hudebního vydavatelství . Kapela přešla z death metalového pojetí na prvním albu k melodičtějšímu death/doomu a čerpá zde mj. z finského národního eposu Kalevala. Tales from the Thousand Lakes mělo velmi úspěšnou odezvu a ovlivnilo řadu kapel, např. Nightwish, Opeth či Children of Bodom. Ke skladbě Black Winter Day vznikl videoklip. (cs)

- Tales from the Thousand Lakes is the second full-length album by doom metal band Amorphis. It is a concept album, the lyrics are based on the Finnish national epic, Kalevala. While still predominantly melodic death metal and gothic metal compared to the band's death metal debut, alongside this more melodic sound, the album is noted to have more progressive instrumentation. The album also introduced synthesizers and clean vocals to the band's sound, though the latter was used sparingly. This is the first Amorphis release to have an official keyboardist, Kasper Mårtenson, as any previous of the band's releases had the band's own drummer, Jan Rechberger, provide the empty keyboardist role until the band decided to have a keyboardist and also to find one being Mårtenson. With Mårtenson in the band, it is the first time the band's original lineup changed by having an additional member. Jan Rechberger would leave the band after this album but rejoin the band for 2003's Far from the Sun. The album was an influential release in the development of the melodic death metal genre. The original limited version (on digipack) had a cover of "Light My Fire" by The Doors added as a bonus track. It was later re-released in 2001 with most tracks from the Black Winter Day EP and the "Light My Fire" cover added as bonus tracks. (en)

На этом альбоме группа продемонстрировала сочетание традиционного дэт/дум-метал с финской народной музыкой. По сравнению с дебютным альбомом The Karelian Isthmus, Amorphis ушёл от дэт-метал к неторопливому, вязкому звучанию. W tym monumentalnym albumie koncepcyjnym teksty piosenek oparte są na fińskim eposie narodowym Kalevala. Album stanowi pierwsze odejście od agresywnego deathmetalowego brzmienia z ich debiutanckiej płyty do bardziej melodycznego death/doom metalu z większym wpływem zespołów reprezentujących wczesny doom metal (np. Black Sabbath). W nagraniu w większym stopniu niż wcześniej zastosowano syntezatory i czysty śpiew. Tales from the Thousand Lakes to pierwszy album, w którego nagraniu uczestniczył Kasper Martenson, grając na keyboardzie. Druga płyta Amorphis jest często uznawana za jedno z lepszych nagrań tego zespołu. W 2001 roku album został wydany ponownie, tym razem z dodatkiem utworów z minialbumu Black Winter Day i coverem utworu Light My Fire zespołu The Doors. (pl)
