- Tag rugby je bezkontaktní varianta klasického ragby, v níž hraje 7 hráčů proti 7 hráčům na venkovních hřištích nebo 5 hráčů proti 5 hráčům ve sportovních halách. Hra vychází z mezinárodních pravidel rugby union a rugby league, tím učí hráče základní dovednosti, jako je běh dopředu s míčem, vyhýbání se protihráči, přihrávka spoluhráči, postupné obraně a dalším dovednostem podobným například pro basketbal nebo házenou. Výhodou tag rugby je jeho jednoduchost a rychlost, možnost hrát i v menších kolektivech nebo hrát tuto hru při nepříznivém počasí v halách. - Le rugby foulard, également appelé Tag rugby dans les pays anglo-saxons ou flag rugby parfois en France, est un sport d’équipe sans contact basé principalement sur le rugby à XIII dans lequel chaque joueur porte deux rubans (ou tags en anglais) attachés à une ceinture ou directement à son short par des patchs en velcro. Les joueurs attaquants, porteurs du ballon, esquivent les défenseurs, se passent le ballon, et marquent des essais. L'intérêt principal du Tag rugby est de pouvoir pratiquer le rugby sans contact direct et avec un jeu au pied plus restreint. Toutefois, sachant que parmi les règles et principes fondamentaux du rugby à XIII et du rugby à XV on trouve en bonne place le contact et le jeu au pied, certains définissent le Tag rugby comme un sport ayant ses caractéristiques propres. D'autres personnes le voient comme une étape intermédiaire dans la progression éducative vers le rugby contact, ex. - Il tag rugby, definito talvolta anche flag rugby, è uno sport totalmente privo di contatto che viene giocato indossando all'altezza della vita una cintura di velcro alla quale sono legate due nastri al disopra delle anche. Il modo di giocare è simile al touch rugby, ma il "tocco" viene in questo caso sostituito dal tentativo della difesa avversaria di strappare uno dei nastri al portatore di palla avanzante. Questa azione sostituisce il placcaggio del rugby classico e impone al giocatore che ha subito il "tagging" di passare velocemente il pallone a un altro compagno. Dopo sei tentativi di avanzamento andati a vuoto sarà la squadra avversaria a passare alla fase di attacco. L'unico modo di realizzare punti consiste nel conseguire una meta (vale un punto). Solitamente per ogni campionato esistono quattro categorie, in base al livello di esperienza ed agonismo. Nel tag rugby irlandese a squadre miste, in particolare, si tende a richiedere la partecipazione di almeno tre donne per squadra; inoltre vale la regola per cui la meta della donna vale triplo (tre punti anziché uno), per incoraggiare un'equità di gioco tra i due sessi.
