Das im April 2008 gegründete Unternehmen ist ein Joint Venture der TUI AG und der Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., der zweitgrößten Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft der Welt. Das erste Schiff der Flotte war die im Mai 2009 erworbene Mein Schiff, die zuvor zu Celebrity Cruises gehörte. Das zweite Schiff war ebenfalls ein Erwerb und hieß Mein Schiff 2 (jetzt Mein Schiff Herz) und nahm im Mai 2011 seine Fahrt auf. Seit 2014 übernahm TUI Cruises sechs Neubauten von der Schiffbaugesellschaft STX Finland und dessen Nachfolger Meyer Turku Oy. Bis 2026 sollen drei weitere Neubauten in Dienst gestellt werden. (de)

The company started operations in 2009 and competes with AIDA Cruises for the German market. It targets German-speaking customers who opt for a premium cruise experience. The onboard product, including food, entertainment and amenities, is custom-tailored for German tastes and German is the main language used onboard its ships. In February 2020 TUI announced the purchase of Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten. The take over was completed in July 2020. (en)
