- Der Schweizer Heimatschutz (SHS) ist die grösste Schweizer Non-Profit-Organisation im Bereich Baukultur. Er wurde 1905 als Schweizerische Vereinigung für Heimatschutz gegründet und umfasst heute rund 27'000 Mitglieder. Der SHS ist die Dachorganisation von 25 Kantonalsektionen. - Patrimoine suisse, ou Schweizer Heimatschutz (SHS) en allemand, est une organisation non gouvernementale suisse sans but lucratif et d'utilité publique, ayant la forme d'une association, active dans le domaine de la culture architecturale et de la protection du paysage. Fondée en 1905, elle compte 27 000 membres et elle est l'organisation faîtière de 25 sections cantonales. Patrimoine suisse cherche à préserver les monuments historiques de différentes époques, mais également à encourager une architecture moderne de qualité dans le cadre des nouvelles constructions. Depuis 1946, en collaboration avec Pro Natura, Patrimoine suisse soutient par la vente d'un « Écu d'or en chocolat » des projets en matière de protection du patrimoine et de la nature et, depuis 1972, décerne chaque année le prix Wakker à une commune pour son action dans le domaine de la conservation du patrimoine ainsi que la promotion d'une architecture contemporaine de qualité. - The Swiss Heritage Society (SHS) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the advancement of Switzerland's architectural heritage. Its focus is on the preservation of important landmarks, the development of the structural environment, and the promotion of good architectural design. The Swiss Heritage Society was founded in 1905, has about 17,000 members and publishes the magazine Heimatschutz/Sauvegarde quarterly. The Swiss Heritage Society pursues its goals mainly with public relations activities, through publications, technical consulting in construction projects, advisory functions in planning committees, appraisals, legal action, and financial grants for pioneering projects. The SHS commends exemplary achievements by awarding prizes (Wakker Prize, Heimatschutz Prize, Schulthess Horticultural Prize). Together with Pro Natura, the SHS has been supporting the annual fundraising drive with chocolate talers (Schoggitaler) for over fifty years. (en)

Está implicado na preservação dos monumentos históricos de diferentes épocas, mas também encorajando uma arquitectura moderna de qualidade no quadro de novas construções. Conjuntamente com Pro Natura, desde 1946, e com a venda do Escudo de ouro em chocolate, são recompensados anualmente os projectos em matéria de protecção do património e da natureza, e desde 1972 atribuí o Prémio Wakker a uma comuna ou organização que se tenha distinguida na conservação do património suíço.
