- الري السطحي أو الري بالغمر هو غمر (إغراق) القطعة الزراعية بالمياه المأخوذة من الترع وينتشر في المناطق التي يكثر بها الماء قرب الأنهار ويسمى أيضا الري بالغمر وتؤثر الرياح علي الري السطحي (علي حسب شدة الرياح).ثم يسيل على شكل طبقة سطحية تروي التربة التي تمر عليها ومن عيوبها أنها تؤدي إلى ضياع نسبة كبيرة من الماء الذي لايستفيد منه النبات. - Irigasi permukaan adalah penerapan irigasi dengan cara mendistribusikan air ke lahan pertanian dengan cara gravitasi (membiarkan air mengalir di permukaan lahan pertanian). Metode ini merupakan cara yang paling banyak digunakan di seluruh dunia. Irigasi permukaan yang cenderung tidak terkendali umumnya disebut dengan irigasi banjir atau irigasi basin, yaitu merendam lahan pertanian hingga ketinggian tertentu dengan jumlah air yang berlebih.
