- The Stabroek News is a privately owned newspaper published in Guyana. It takes its name from Stabroek /ˈstæbruːk/, the former name of Georgetown, Guyana. It was first published in November 1986, first as a weekly but it later changed to a daily print newspaper. The entry of the paper into the mass media in Guyana brought a new openness to the media environment in the country. It was founded by David DeCaires, who died on November 1, 2008. Stabroek News is also the sole distributor of DirecTV Caribbean in Guyana. There has been some controversy as illegal distributors of DirecTV Caribbean in Guyana have not provided services to those who have paid for it. (en)
- Stabroek News – dziennik ukazujący się w Gujanie od 1986 roku w języku angielskim. Powstał z inicjatywy solicitora , który był także pierwszym redaktorem naczelnym. Początkowo gazeta ukazywała się jako tygodnik. „Stabroek News” jest również wyłącznym dystrybutorem DirecTV Caribbean w Gujanie. W 1986 roku David de Caires razem z z „” zwrócił się do ówczesnego prezydenta Desmonda Hoyte o zgodę na wydawanie prywatnej gazety. Oprócz posiadanej przez rząd „Guyana Chronicle” istniało tylko „PPP’s Mirror”, wydawana przez Ludową Partię Postępową, oraz „Catholic Standard” i kilka nieregularnie wydawanych periodyków jak „Open Word”. Żadna z gazet nie była wydawana codziennie, a dwie pierwsze były pod silną presją polityczną. Caires był demokratą i dążył do powrotu liberalnego społeczeństwa i rządów prawa. Był także zaangażowany w rozwój gospodarcze kraju, gdzie prywatny biznes mógł się rozwijać.
