- باطن الإسفنج (بالإنجليزية: Spongocoel)، هو تركيب تشريحي في الاسفنجيات يحتوي على جدران مزودة بمئات من المسامات تسمح بمرور الماء إلى داخل الإسفنج ويحتوي على نهايته فتحة كبيرة تُسمى الفويهة تمرر الماء إلى الخارج. (ar)
- Le spongocèle (aussi appelé spongocœle, cavité gastrale ou atrium) est la grande cavité centrale des éponges. L'eau y pénètre via des centaines de petits pores, les ostia, et en ressortent par une plus grande ouverture, l'oscule. Selon la forme corporelle de l'animal (soit asconoïde, syconoïde ou leuconoïde), le spongocèle peut se résumer à un simple espace interne creux ou au contraire à un réseau complexe de structures creuses internes. Indépendamment de la forme de l'éponge, les conduits menant au spongocèle sont tapissés de choanocytes, cellules munies de flagelles qui, en les agitant, créent un courant qui envoie l'eau vers le spongocèle, à l'intérieur duquel d'autres choanocytes ou des amibocytes digèrent les particules nutritives.

Water enters the spongocoel through hundreds of tiny pores (ostia) and exits through the larger opening (osculum). Depending on the body plan of the sponge (which can be asconoid, , or ), the spongocoel could be a simple interior space of the sponge or a complexly branched inner structure. Regardless of body plan or class, the spongocoel is lined with choanocytes, which have flagella that push water through the spongocoel, creating a current. The spongocoel is lined by a variety of cell types, each having a unique function:
* porocytes – line the pores of the sponge and are the structure through which water is taken into the organism
* choanocytes – exhibit flagella that create inward currents of water for the sponge's stationary filter feeding mechanism
* amoebocytes – motile cells that perform various digestive functions within the sponge by transporting and/or storing food and excreting waste. (en)
