Maskloj estas tipe ĉefe brilnigraj, dum inoj estas malhelgrizaj, kio estas kazoj de seksa duformismo. Tiu ĉi estas birdo indiĝena de Ĝibutio, Eritreo, nordorienta kaj centra Etiopio, norda Somalio, kaj eĉ en la insulo Sokotro de Jemeno (sed oni ne konfuzu kun la tre proksima parenco Sokotra sturno).
