- Simcha Dinic, hebrejsky: שמחה דיניץ, (23. června 1929 Tel Aviv – 23. září 2003 Jeruzalém) byl izraelský politik a diplomat. V letech 1969 až 1973 byl generálním ředitelem úřadu ministerského předsedy a politický poradce ministerské předsedkyně Goldy Meirové. Poté se stal izraelským velvyslancem ve Spojených státech a tento diplomatický post zastával až do roku 1979. V 80. letech byl poslancem Knesetu za sociálnědemokratickou stranu Ma'arach. Dinic sehrál významnou roli v koordinaci transferu zbraní z USA do Izraele během jomkipurské války v roce 1973 a byl členem izraelské delegace během mírových jednání s Egyptem v Camp Davidu v roce 1978. Ve volbách do Knesetu v roce 1984 byl zvolen poslancem za stranu Ma'arach a byl členem výboru pro zahraniční věci a obranu. Krátce před volbami v roce 1988 na svůj mandát rezignoval. Od roku 1986 do roku 1995 byl předsedou výkonného výboru Světové sionistické organizace a Židovské agentury. Za jeho působení emigroval do Izraele téměř milion Židů (tj. zhruba 7 % veškeré židovské populace na světě) ze zemí bývalého Sovětského svazu a dalších zemí. Nadto bylo v květnu 1991 v rámci operace Šalamoun letecky do Izraele přepraveno přes 14 tisíc etiopských Židů. Ze svých funkcí byl nucen odstoupit v roce 1995 po dvou obviněních z krádeže. O obou Dinic tvrdil, že se jedná o účetnické chyby. Po dlouhém soudním procesu byl zproštěn všech obvinění. Diplomatické vzdělání získal na Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service při Georgetown University ve Spojených státech, kde získal titul bakaláře a magistra. (cs)

An der School of Foreign Service der Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. erhielt er schließlich seinen Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) sowie seinen Master of Science (M.Sc.). Nach Beendigung seines Studiums wurde Dinitz im israelischen Außenministerium tätig. In seiner 30-jährigen Karriere bekleidete er verschiedene Ämter, unter anderem war er von 1966 bis 1968 Gesandter an der Botschaft in Rom und von 1968 bis 1969 an der Botschaft in Washington. Von 1969 bis 1973 war Dinitz Generaldirektor im Amt des Premierministers und politischer Berater von Premierministerin Golda Meir. Im Anschluss wurde er von 1973 bis 1979 israelischer Botschafter in den Vereinigten Staaten. Dinitz spielte eine wichtige Rolle bei der Koordination der US-amerikanischen Waffenlieferungen an Israel während des Jom-Kippur-Krieges im Jahr 1973. Bei den Friedensgesprächen mit Ägypten in Camp David war er Mitglied der israelischen Delegation. Von 1979 bis 1984 bekleidete Dinitz das Amt des Vizepräsidenten der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem. Danach gehörte er von 1984 bis 1988 für Awoda der 11. Legislaturperiode der Knesset an. Von 1987 bis 1994 war er Vorsitzender des Direktion der World Zionist Organization und der Jewish Agency. He served as Director General of the Prime Minister's office and political advisor to Prime Minister Golda Meir from 1969 to 1973, before becoming the Israeli Ambassador to the United States from 1973 to 1979. He had an overlapping appointment as the Non resident Ambassador to the Bahamas During the 1980s he was elected to the Knesset. Dinitz played a major role in coordinating the weapons shipments to Israel received from the U.S. during the Yom Kippur War airlift in 1973, and was a member of the Israeli delegation during the Camp David peace talks with Egypt. In the 1984 elections he was elected to the Knesset on the Alignment's list and served as a member of its Committee for Foreign and Defense Affairs. However, he resigned from the Knesset shortly before the 1988 elections. From 1986 Dinitz served as Chairman of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency for Israel. During his time in office, almost 1 million Jews (about 7% of the entire Jewish population in the world) emigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union and other countries. In addition, he coordinated Operation Solomon, in which over 14,000 Ethiopian Jews were airlifted to safety in Israel in one day in May 1991. In 1995, Dinitz was forced to step down after he was indicted for two charges of theft. Dinitz claimed that these were accounting errors, and was tried in the Jerusalem District Court. He was acquitted of one charge and convicted of the other, but the conviction was overturned in an appeal to the Supreme Court of Israel. Dinitz received his diplomatic training at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in the United States where he obtained both bachelor's and master's degrees. (en)
