- The siege of Kars took place during the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–1829. A Russian army, led by General Ivan Paskevich, successfully took Kars in Turkish Armenia from the Ottomans. The battle itself lasted three days, from 20 to 23 June 1828. The capture was almost a complete accident. During the initial stages of the war, a rifleman enacted an unauthorized advancement towards the city and with the Russian army noticing the imminent danger said troop was in, they rushed to their protection which thus resulted in Kars falling after Ottoman troops engaged the Russian position. The Ottoman force, numbering some 11,000 men before the siege, lost 2,000 men and 151 artillery guns. The Russian contingent lost 400 men. (en)
- Оса́да Ка́рса — сражение за укреплённый город Карс 20 июня (2 июля)—23 июня (5 июля) 1828 года в ходе Русско-турецкой войны (1828—1829); первое победное взятие крепости Карса русскими войсками в XIX веке, за ними последовали ещё два в 1855 и 1877 годах. Война Османской империей была объявлена российским императором Николаем I из-за турецких нарушений договорённостей о судоходстве в черноморских проливах и иных провокационных действияй Порты. Захват Карса входил в планы по отвлечению сил турок от главного театра военных действий на Балканском полуострове. Граф Паскевич-Эриванский, лично командуя войсками, выдвинулся 14 (26) июня 1828 года из Гюмри к укреплённому Карсу, под его стенами разбил турецкую кавалерию и, осадив эту крепость, принудил 23 июня (5 июля) к сдаче её гарнизон со значительным количеством орудий и пороха.
