Mais le système s’avère être impopulaire dans le marché japonais et il est finalement un échec. Un nouveau PC est également en phase de réflexion pour être développé par Sega, sous la direction de l'ex-exécutif de chez IBM, Narutomi, mais il n'a probablement jamais dépassé le stade des discussions en raison de l'échec du TeraDrive. Le TeraDrive permet la lecture des jeux Mega Drive parallèlement à la partie PC lorsqu'elle est utilisée, puisqu'une interaction entre la Mega Drive et le matériel de l'ordinateur est possible. Son interface est composée d'un menu de démarrage avec plusieurs options, comprenant un gestionnaire de fichiers, DOS, une horloge et le mode Mega Drive. Il y a très peu d'informations connues en anglais à propos du TeraDrive ou du développement de logiciels sur la plate-forme. Les chiffres de production ne sont pas connus. Le système est moyennement rare au Japon, même si les prix augmentent rapidement en raison de la demande des collectionneurs. - Sega Teradrive – komputer osobisty stworzony przez IBM i Sega. Uruchamiał on również gry z Mega Drive. Był on dostępny tylko w Japonii, a do produkcji wszedł dnia 31 maja 1991. Modele wyższej klasy posiadały wbudowany twardy dysk. Monitor do tego urządzenia był sprzedawany osobno. Poprzez wyjście RCA możliwe było podłączenie do telewizora. Niemożliwe było również podłączenie przystawki 32x i Mega CD, jednak w sieci krąży filmik pokazujący działanie Mega CD i Teradrive'a. Na licencji Sega stworzono komputer o nazwie , który miał prawie takie same parametry, jak Teradrive, ale nie umożliwiał podłączenia do telewizora. (pl)
