- Saxoceras es un género de ammonoides de schlotheimiidae muy evolucionados del Jurásico Inferior . El caparazón de los saxoceras es discoidal y tiene costillas fuertes, generalmente rectas, que nacen en el hombro umbilical y se engrosan en la mitad del venter. Waehneroceras, similares, tienen costillas que se curvan hacia adelante a medida que se acercan al venter y Kammerkarites tiene costillas secundarias más finas . Ambos son también schlotheimiidos evolutos con todos los verticilos expuestos. Las de Arietitidae son similares desde el lado, pero tienen una banda suave que corre a lo largo del venter con una quilla mediana. (es)
- Saxoceras is a genus of very evolute schlotheimiid ammonoids from the Lower Jurassic. The shell of Saxoceras is discoidal, bearing strong, generally straight ribs that arise on the umbilical shoulder and thicken in the middle of the venter. Similar Waehneroceras has ribs that curve forward as they approach the venter, and has finer ribs with secondaries. Both are also evolute schlotheimiids with all whorls exposed. of the Arietitidae is similar from the side but has a smooth band running along the venter with a median keel. (en)
