Harrison is known as "the man who refused to die" because of the numerous injuries he sustained while in combat. During one battle, Harrison lost his left arm, kneecap, and three fingers on his right hand. Although he was pronounced dead, he survived. Despite 27 months in hospitals and 33 surgical operations, he went on to found and head two successful corporations and attain high civic honors. (en)
