- Die Baureihe X 2400 der französischen Staatsbahn SNCF ist ein Dieseltriebwagen, der in einer Anzahl von 79 Stück zwischen 1951 und 1955 gebaut wurde. Die Fahrzeuge boten Platz für 12 Reisende in der 1. und 56 Reisende in der 2. Klasse, waren 27 m lang und erreichten eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 120 km/h. Die Triebwagen wurden oft mit Beiwagen anderer Einheiten zusammengekuppelt. Die Inbetriebnahme der 2 × 300 PS starken Fahrzeuge ging einher mit der Inbetriebnahme der Baureihen X 5500 sowie Mobylettes mit 150 PS und der Baureihe X 3800 Picasso mit 300 PS. So konnte nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg der Fahrzeugpark an Schienenbussen und Verbrennungstriebwagen der SNCF aus der Vorkriegszeit grundlegend mit drei einheitlichen Baureihen verschiedener Leistungsklassen erneuert werden. Ebenso erleichterten diese Verbrennungstriebwagen die Ablösung der Dampftraktion. Die Baureihe war zuerst in Limoges beheimatet und wurde, mit Beiwagen der Reihe XR 8000 gekuppelt, auf den Linien im Zentralmassiv eingesetzt. Dort gesellte sich bald die Reihe X 2800 hinzu, die zwar nur einen Motor besaß, dafür aber stärker war. Da die Wartungskosten für die Reihe X 2400 höher waren als für die Reihe X 2800, wurde diese nach Rennes verlegt. Bis 1989 wurden die X 2400 durch die Reihen und abgelöst. Der X 2464 wurde 1988 aus dem Umlauf genommen und in einen Messzug umgebaut. Er wurde in die Corail-Farben Dunkelgrau, Orange und Weiß umlackiert. Zehn Fahrzeuge sind insgesamt erhalten geblieben. Die Reihe X 2400 wurde in zwei Varianten gebaut:
* XABDP 2401 bis 2469 mit einem Gewicht von 43 t und zwei 517G-Renault-Motoren mit einer Leistung von je 250 kW (330 PS).
* XABDP 2470 bis 2479 mit einem Gewicht von 44,5 t und zwei Saurer-Motoren mit einer Leistung von je 235 kW (320 PS). (de)
- SNCF's X 2400 are a class of railcars. The 79 XABDP 2400, unifiés 600 PS (440 kW) were built from 1951 to 1955. They were capable of carrying 12 passengers in 1st class and 56 in 2nd class, they were 27 m (88 ft 7 in) long and capable of reaching a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). The railcars were often coupled to trailers of coupled to other units. The class was put into service along the X 3800, Picasso. These 300 PS (220 kW) railcars facilitated the phasing out of steam traction and to renew aging railcar stock. The class was first allocated to Limoges and onto the lines of the Massif Central, coupled to XR 8000 trailers. The X 2400 was quickly accompanied by the railcars, equipped with one engine only, but more powerful. The maintenance cost of the X 2400 was greater than the one-engined X 2800 and so the class was moved to Rennes. The arrival of the X 2100 and X 2200 railcars precipitated the retirement of the X 2400, the last 2400 retiring in 1989. The X 2464 was withdrawn from service in 1988 and was modified into a . It was painted into the Corail livery of dark grey, orange and white. Twelve railcars have been preserved. Two sub-classes of X 2400 exist:
* XABDP 2401 to 2469 with a weight of 43 t (42 long tons; 47 short tons), two 517G Renault engines with 250 kW (340 PS) (340 ch) output.
* XABDP 2470 to 2479 with a weight of 44.5 t (43.8 long tons; 49.1 short tons), two Saurer engines with 235 kW (320 PS) (320 ch) output. (en)
