- El SEAT 1200 Sport és un coupé fabricat per SEAT entre 1975 i 1980. El projecte del 1200 Sport va ser proposat a SEAT per part d'INDUCAR( Industrial de Carrocerias) , una coperativa carrossera de Terrassa, que subministrava a SEAT les carrosseries de quatre portes del 850 dissenyades per l'enginyer Terrassenc( Antoni Amat Armengol. A principis dels 70, Amat viatja a Italia i visita el saló del automobil de Turí. Ell tenia una idea i disseny per un futur esportiu , però allá, queda enamorat del NSU Nèrgal del stand de pintures Glassurit. Pregunta pel dissenyador d'aquell prototip, i li donen les ressenyes de l'enginyer Italià Aldo Sessano. Contacta amb ell, Amat li ensenya els esbosos del seu disseny ( i la maqueta) i Sessano, reflecteix perfectament la unió entre la linia del seu Nérgal i la idea d Amat i les cotes del Seat 127.El disseny del 1200 Sport va ser obra d'Aldo Sessano que el va adaptar al bastidor del SEAT 127, de fet el projecte va ser presentat al fabricant català com a la versió coupé del 127 i en alguns mercats d'exportació es va comercialitzar com a SEAT 127 Coupé. La carrosseria era acoblada a les instal·lacions d'Inducar i traslladada a les de SEAT on es completava la pintura i el muntatge de la resta d'òrgans del cotxe. Mecànicament el 1200 Sport adoptava el motor del SEAT 124, però muntat transversalment i inclinat 17° per tal d'encabir-se en un espai més reduït. Va ser el primer cotxe de SEAT amb motor transversal i l'adaptació la va fer l'empresa Madrilenya DDAUTO( Desarrollos Del Automovil)amb una cilindrada de 1.197cc, la velocitat punta arribava a 158,4 km/h.Tenia uns paraxocs creats amb poliuretà expandit ( una tecnica molt inovadora a l'epoca i on FIAT, va mostrar interés per incorporar aquesta tecnica en alguns dels seus models, però va descartar per els alts costos)En 1977 apareix el SEAT Sport 1430, amb la mateixa carrosseria i una potència de 77CV. El Sport va haver de conviure des de 1977 amb el SEAT 128 3p, un rival directe, amb una carrosseria més pràctica i un preu una mica mes economic, va rstar vendes al sport. L'arribada del SEAT 128 3P a Espanya, va seruna imposició de FIAT( perque el cotxe, no tenia les vendes esperades a Italia, i a canvi, SEAT podria exportar els 127 de 4 portes que no existien a Italia i FIAT tenia interés en ells). Amb el nou model 128, SEAT va decidir revisar el model Sport i es va unificar motors, pero tambe carburador,caixa de canvis i radiadors del 128( material provinent d Italia, amb mes capacitat de refigeracio i un canvi amb un embrague millor) nivell dinamic, el Sport era un cotxe superior al 128. Popularment, en alguns llocs, aquest coupé es va anomenar 'Bocanegra', degut al seu característic frontal de poliuretà expandit negre. És considerat l'últim cotxe propi dissenyat,creat i construït a Catalunya, i l'únic esportiu autocton posterior al mític PEGASO Z-102/103. (ca)

- The SEAT 1200 Sport is a two-door, four-seater coupé developed by the Spanish car maker SEAT. First presented in December 1975, and sold commercially from February 1976 to September 1979, it was the first car developed entirely in the company's newly opened Martorell Technical Centre. Its initial version was powered by the bigger 1,197 cc engine of 67 PS (49 kW) (developed for the SEAT 124), transversely mounted and canted forward by 16°, giving the little 2+2 a top speed of 157 km/h (98 mph) via its four-speed gearbox transmission. Despite its sporting aspirations, its power output was limited by a relatively low compression ratio, reflecting the fuel octane levels available in its home market. The 1200 Sport's sharp-edged body design had a drag coefficient (cd) of 0.37. It was purchased from NSU of Germany, after the German firm abandoned its plans to launch the NSU Nergal, its own small sports car based on the rear-enginedNSU Prinz, presented as a prototype in the 1970 Turin Motor Show and designed by Italian designer Aldo Sessano. Antoni Amat, technical director of Inducar (Industrias de la Carrocería, an external provider for SEAT) proposed the 1200 Sport project to SEAT, with the mediation of Günter Óistrach, after the former's visit and contacts at the Turin Motor Show. The Terrassa-based Inducar company undertook the production of the car's chassis. To fit the platform SEAT planned for the car, the Nergal design was modified to include elements of another of Sessano's concept cars, the OTAS KL112, as it was based on the Fiat 127. A characteristic of the original NSU Nergal design that remained in the production model was the air-vents in the third pillar, just above the rear wheel arch, likely indicating the presence of the rear-mounted engine in NSU's design. SEAT's engineers examined the possibility of keeping the rear-engine layout, but ultimately chose a front engine. The car's boot featured remote opening through a handle on the driver's door, and had a fuel capacity of 339 litres. In 1977, the SEAT 1430 Sport Coupé was introduced, using the same body, but with a retuned version of the engine from the SEAT 1430. In this application, the 1,438-cc engine provided a power output of 77 PS (57 kW) and a top speed of 164 km/h (102 mph). The Sport versions were offered mainly in the Spanish market, but also some cars were officially offered in other European countries such as Germany, Holland, Belgium, and France. Both models, 1200 and 1430, were discontinued in 1979, along with the SEAT 128, SEAT 133, and CKD-built Lancia Beta and Beta HPE, as part of the important restructuring of the SEAT range for 1980. A total of 19,332 units was sold in the Spanish market, with 11,619 cars being equipped with the 1200 engine and some 7,713 units with the more powerful but late-launched 1430 motor. The car was widely known as the "Boca negra" ("black mouth" in Spanish) because of the color and shape of its always black plastic front panel, which embraced the front grille and the headlights and incorporated, by 1970s standards, a prominent front bumper. In 2008, SEAT presented the SEAT Bocanegra concept car at the Geneva Motor Show. It received this name as a homage to the classic 1200 Sport, as it also had a black front end. It is sold as a special-edition Ibiza model from the second half of 2009, based on the SEAT Ibiza FR and Cupra versions.
