- Rune Hassner (13 August 1928 – 19 July 2003) was a well-known Swedish photographer and film director. He directed around fifty documentaries and two feature films, including Myglaren. Rune Hassner went as a student with Rolf Winquist at Ateljé Uggla in Stockholm. He started at the age of 19 in 1947 as a press photographer in Östersund. At the age of 21, he traveled to Paris and was there for eight years as a freelance photographer. He returned to Sweden in 1958 and became one of the founders that year of the professional collective Ten Photographers With Sten Didrik Bellander (1921–2001), Harry Dittmar, Sven Gillsäter (1921–2001), Georg Oddner(1923–2007), and Lennart Olson (1925–2010), Hans Hammarskiöld (1925–2012), Hans Malmberg, Tore Johnson, and Pål Nils Nilsson, and their subsequent photo agency Tiofoto. The group was influential in Swedish photography and they regularly exhibited at significant venues for photography, and the whole group was presented at the Hasselblad Centre in 1998. Rune Hassner was head of the Gothenburg School of Photography from the start in 1982/83 and of the Hasselblad center in Gothenburg 1988-94. He became an honorary doctor in 1997 at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Gothenburg. Rune Hassner was married to Eva Mari Hassner (born 1933). (en)

Rune Hassner gick som elev hos Rolf Winquist på Ateljé Uggla i Stockholm. Han började vid 19 års ålder 1947 som pressfotograf i Östersund. Vid 21 års ålder reste han till Paris och var där i åtta år som frilansfotograf. Han återkom till Sverige 1958 och blev en av grundarna av bildbyrån Tio fotografer. Rune Hassner var chef för Fotohögskolan i Göteborg från starten 1982/83 och för Hasselblad center i Göteborg 1988-94. Han blev 1997 hedersdoktor vid humanistiska fakulteten vid Göteborgs universitet.
