It was re-released on GOG.com in 2010 and again for Steam in 2016. Within the game, the player commands a group of heroes with different attributes, strengths, and weaknesses which the player may upgrade over the course of the game. Feist later wrote a novelization of this game, entitled Krondor: Tear of the Gods. It is the third part of his Riftwar Legacy trilogy; the first part of which was a novelization of Betrayal at Krondor entitled Krondor: The Betrayal. (en)

Nel gioco è possibile controllare un gruppo di eroi con differenti caratteristiche, punti di forza e debolezze che il giocatore può migliorare nel corso dell'avventura, attraverso una storia ricca di eventi, intrighi criminali e colpi di scena. Alcune delle opere di Feist ambientate nel Midkemia, a partire dal primo romanzo Il Signore della Magia, hanno ispirato la creazione di altri due videogiochi di ruolo: (1993), predecessore di Return to Krondor, e (1997).
