V roce 1915 byly ve městě založeny kluby Gooslin Football Club, Montegnée Football Club a Espérance Football Club Montegnée, všechny se sloučily v roce 1918 do jedno celku pod názvem Racing Football Club Montegnée. V sezóně 1930/31 si klub poprvé a naposled zahrál v nejvyšší soutěží, z třináctého místa z ní sestoupil zpět do nižšího ligového patra. V roce 1954 se klub přejmenoval na Royal Racing Football Club Montegnée. Klub se musel v roce 2014 kvůli dluhům sloučit s klubem R. Ans FC, díky sloučení byl založen nový klub Racing Ans-Montegnée FC. (cs)

Estaba afiliado a la Real Asociación Belga con la matrícula nº 77 y sus colores eran el rojo y azul. - Le Royal Racing Football Club Montegnée était un club de football belge basé à Montegnée (commune de Saint-Nicolas). Le club qui était porteur du « matricule 77 », joua sa dernière saison, en 2013-2014, en deuxième provinciale liégeoise. Le « RRFCM » a évolué durant 61 saisons dans les séries nationales, dont 1 en première division belge. Empêtré dans les problèmes financiers, le club ne trouve pas de solutions et ses dirigeants n'ont d'autre choix que la mise en liquidation. Pour la saison 2014-2015, le « matricule 77 » figure encore sur les registres de l'URBSFA mais, sans peu probable repreneur, sera radié à la fin de la saison. En juin 2014, une fusion officieuse réunit les forces vives du « matricule 77 » et celles du R. Ans FC (matricule 617), lui aussi en cessation d'activités pour former un nouveau club, le Racing Ans-Montegnée FC auquel l'URBSFA attribue le « matricule 9638 » et qui débute en P4. (fr)
