- قواد QUaD,هو اسم مختصر لتجربة فلكية تدعى QUEST at DASI, وهي تجربة مبنية على الأرض (وليست على قمر صناعي) لقياس إشعاع الخلفية الكونية الميكروي وتعيين استقطاب أشعته . بنيت التجربة في القطب الجنوبي. ( تلسكوب مليمتري لتعيين مقداري Q و U لأشعة الخلفية الكونية الميكروويفية) عبارة عن تلسكوب يقيس الأشعة الأتية من خارج المجرة في حيز طول الموجة المليمتري والأقصر منها، وهي تستخدم حساسا بولومتر يستطيع قياس حرارة الأشعة ؛ بينما تجربة داسي DASI , فهي قام برصد إشعاع الخلفية الكونية الميكرويCMB، واستطاعت قياس استقطاب تلك الأشعة لأول مرة . استخدمت تجربة قواد QUaDالجهاز الموجود في داسي ولكنها استبدلت مصفوف قياس تداخل الاشعة بجهاز بولومتر (يقيس الحرارة مباشرة) موضوع عند نهاية المنظومة البصرية لـ تلسكوب كاسيجرين . على موقع تلك التجربة بالقارة المتجمدة الجنوبية توجد أيضا مصفوفة بيسيب وكيك منذ عام 2011. تلك الأرصاد تهدف إلى رصد أشعة الخلفية الكونية الميكروويفية التي انتشرت في الكون الناشيء بعد نحو 380.000 سنة من الانفجار العظيم وقبل نشأة النجوم والمجرات. - QUEST at DASI, abrégé par l'acronoyme QUaD, est une expérience de mesure de la polarisation gravitationnelle du fond diffus cosmologique à l'aide d'un récepteur à matrice bolométrique placé au pôle Sud. L'expérience comprend l'instrument QUEST (Q and U Extragalactic Sub-mm Telescope), qui est le nom donné au télescope et aux instruments bolométrique, auquel a été rattaché un détecteur d'interférométrie basé sur le modèle de DASI (Degree Angular Scale Interferometer). QUEST (Q and U Extragalactic Sub-mm Telescope) was the original name attributed to the bolometer detector instrument, while DASI is a famous CMB interferometry experiment credited with the first detection of CMB polarization. QUaD used the existing DASI mechanical infrastructure but replaced the DASI interferometric array with a bolometer detector at the end of a cassegrain optical system.
