- مصيدة التقدم هي حالة تعاني منها المجتمعات أثناء سعيها للتقدم من خلال الابتكار الإنساني. حيث يقومون بشكل غير مقصود بخلق مشكلات لا يمتلكون الموارد المناسبة أو الإرادة السياسية لحلها وذلك خوفاً من الخسائر على المدى القريب في المكانة أو الاستقرار أو جودة الحياة.{١} الأمر الذي بدوره يمنع إي ارتقاء إضافي وفي بعض الأحيان قد يؤدي إلى الانهيار المجتمعي. يبدو أن المتلازمة قد تم وصفها من قبل والتر فان كريمر في سلسلة مقالاته عام ١٩٨٩ {٢} تحت عنوان عنوان فورتشرتزفول ميدزن (الطب المتقدم). المصطلح المستحدث «مصيدة التقدم» تم تقديمه بشكل منفصل عام ١٩٩٠ من قبل دانيال ب. أوليري في دراسته حول السمات السلوكية لهذه الحالة والتي كانت بعنوان: مصيدة التقدم- العلم والإنسانية والبيئة. {٣} تلقى المصطلح لاحقاً الكثير من الاهتمام عقب صدور كتاب المؤرخ والروائي رونالد رايت عام ٢٠٠٤ وسلسلة محاضرات ماسي بعنوان التاريخ القصير للتقدم والتي وصل فيها إلى حد رسم فيها تاريخ العالم كمصائد متعاقبة للتقدم. تلقت الفكرة المزيد من الاعتراف عند صدور الفيلم الوثائقي المستوحى من كتاب رايت بعنوان البقاء على قيد الحياة أثناء التقدم والذي تم دعمه من قبل مارتن سكورسيزي. - A progress trap is the condition human societies experience when, in pursuing progress through human ingenuity, they inadvertently introduce problems they do not have the resources or political will to solve, for fear of short-term losses in status, stability or quality of life. This prevents further progress and sometimes leads to societal collapse. The syndrome appears to have been first described by Walter Von Krämer, in his series of 1989 articles under the title Fortschrittsfalle Medizin. The specific neologism "progress trap" was introduced independently in 1990 by Daniel B. O'Leary with his study of the behavioral aspects of this condition: The Progress Trap – Science, Humanity and Environment. - Armadilha do progresso é a condição que as sociedades humanas experimentam quando, ao perseguir o progresso através da engenhosidade humana, inadvertidamente introduzem problemas que não têm recursos ou vontade política para resolver,por medo de perdas a curto prazo no status e da estabilidade ou qualidade de vida. A síndrome parece ter sido descrita pela primeira vez por Walter Von Krämer, em sua série de artigos de 1989sob o título Fortschrittsfalle Medizin. O neologismo específico "armadilha do progresso" foi introduzido de forma independente em 1990 por Daniel B.
