- Ο Πρόεδρος του Ανωτάτου Δικαστηρίου και επίσης Πρόεδρος του Γενικού Συμβουλίου της Δικαιοσύνης είναι η ανώτατη δικαστική αρχή του Βασιλείου της Ισπανίας. Τα καθήκοντα του Προέδρου του Ανωτάτου Δικαστηρίου προβλέπονται στο Σύνταγμα, ενώ ο διορισμός γίνεται από το Μονάρχη, αφού προηγουμένως ο υποψήφιος έχει καθοριστεί από την Ολομέλεια του Γενικού Συμβουλίου της Δικαιοσύνης. Η θητεία του είναι πενταετής και μπορεί να τερματιστεί νωρίτερα με απόφαση του Γενικού Συμβουλίου της Δικαιοσύνης ή λόγω παραίτησης του ίδιου του Προέδρου. Ο Πρόεδρος του Ανωτάτου Δικαστηρίου προεδρεύει ακόμη επί των ειδικών δικαστηρίων, όπως το Ειδικό Επιμελητήριο που επιλύει συγκρούσεις μεταξύ αστικής και στρατιωτικής δικαιοδοσίας. Από τότε που ιδρύθηκε το Ανώτατο Δικαστήριο το 1812, 48 άνδρες έχουν υπηρετήσει στο αξίωμα του Προέδρου. Ο πρώτος ήταν ο (1812-1814). Το Γενικό Συμβούλιο της Δικαιοσύνης ιδρύθηκε το 1978 και η πρώτη συνεδρίασή του πραγματοποιήθηκε το 1980, εκλέγοντας τον ως Πρόεδρό του. Από το 2013, 48ος Πρόεδρος του Ανωτάτου Δικαστηρίου και 8ος Πρόεδρος του Γενικού Συμβουλίου της Δικαιοσύνης είναι ο . (el)
- El presidente del Tribunal Supremo y, a la vez, presidente del Consejo General del Poder Judicial, es la primera autoridad judicial de la Nación y ostenta la representación del Poder Judicial y del órgano de gobierno del mismo, correspondiéndole el tratamiento y los honores inherentes a tal condición. El actual presidente en funciones es el magistrado , vicepresidente en funciones del Alto Tribunal y presidente de la Sala de lo Civil. Se da la peculiaridad de que en la actualidad, la cabeza del Tribunal Supremo no lo es también del Consejo General del Poder Judicial, puesto que tras la dimisión de Carlos Lesmes, el Pleno del CGPJ eligió como su presidente interino al magistrado , vocal de mayor edad del Consejo. Es la primera vez desde la creación del CGPJ en 1980 que se produce esta bicefalia. (es)
- The President of the Supreme Court and also President of the General Council of the Judiciary is the highest judicial authority of the Kingdom of Spain and holds the representation of the judicial branch and its governing body, the CGPJ. The office of President of the Supreme Court is foreseen in the Constitution as well as giving to the president the presidency of the General Council of the Judiciary. As a parliamentary monarchy, the President of the Supreme Court is appointed by the Monarch after being nominated by the Plenary of the General Council of the Judiciary, who serves until the end of its 5-years-term, its dismissal by the CGPJ or its resignation. The President of the Supreme Court also chairs the special courts, such as the Jurisdiction Conflicts Chamber which resolve conflicts between the civil and military justice, the Jurisdiction Conflicts Court which resolve conflicts between the Courts of Justice and the Administration, the Competence Conflicts Chamber which resolve conflicts between different Courts of Justice and the Chamber for Section 61, which is in charge of major cases against the Supreme Court justices, of reviewing some sentences and of the illegalization of political parties when they promote illicit activities, do not have a democratic internal organization or there is any cause of illegality foreseen in the Criminal Code. Since the Supreme Court was established in 1812, 47 people have served as President. The first was Ramón Posada y Soto (1812–1814). The General Council of the Judiciary was established in 1978 and the first meeting was in 1980, electing Ángel Escudero del Corral as its President. The current 48th President of the Supreme Court and 8th President of the General Council of the Judiciary is Carlos Lesmes Serrano since 2013. (en)
