- Pituicytom je vzácný benigní mozkový nádor, roste pomalu a ohraničeně a může se vyskytnout v neurohypofýze. Tvoří ho bipolární, vřetenovité gliové buňky, které se derivují z pituicytů. U dospělých se může projevit bolestmi hlavy, problémy s viděním a s funkcí endokrinního systému. Po několika letech se může stát recidivním a k metastázím u něho nedochází. Způsobuje poruchy zraku a endokrinního systému. Někdy je chybně zaměňován za adenom hypofýzy. (cs)

- Das Pituizytom ist ein seltener, gutartiger (WHO Grad I), von der Hypophyse ausgehender Hirntumor, der meist im Erwachsenenalter auftritt.Der Tumor entsteht aus den nur in der Neurohypophyse vorkommenden, auf Transport, Speicherung und Freigabe der Hormone Antidiuretisches Hormon und Oxytocin spezialisierten, Pituizyten genannten Gliazellen. Vor 2016 wurde der Begriff „Pituizytom“ breiter gefasst und schloss Granularzelltumor in der Hypophyse und Pilozytische Astrozytome der Neurohypophyse mit ein. (de)
- Pituicytoma is a rare brain tumor. It grows at the base of the brain from the pituitary gland. This tumor is thought to be derived from the parenchymal cells of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland, called pituicytes. Some researchers believe that they arise from the folliculostellate cells in the anterior lobe of the pituitary. As such, it is a low-grade glioma. It occurs in adults and symptoms include visual disturbance and endocrine dysfunction. They are often mistaken for pituitary adenomas which have a similar presentation and occur in the same location. The treatment consists of surgical resection, which is curative in most cases. (en)
