- Ein Pipeline Coaster ist ein Achterbahnmodell, bei dem die Züge zwischen den Schienen fahren, im Gegensatz zu einer traditionellen Achterbahn, bei der sie darüber fahren. Das Konzept wurde zuerst von der japanischen Fahrgeschäftfirma TOGO entwickelt und war als Ultra Twister bekannt. Sie bauten sechs Installationen des Entwurfs, von denen noch vier in Betrieb sind. Arrow Dynamics hat eine alternative Version des Konzepts erstellt, die es jedoch nie über das Prototypenstadium in der Entwicklung hinaus geschafft hat. Intamin experimentierte auch mit dem Pipeline-Konzept, baute und verlegte ein Modell, das als Spiral Coaster bekannt war, dieses ist aber nicht mehr in Betrieb. Zu den Nachteilen des Designs gehören die Notwendigkeit großer, unbequemer Schultergurte sowie die Behinderung der Sicht des Fahrers durch die geschlossene Rohrstruktur. (de)

Le nom de l'attraction vient du mot anglais "Pipeline" qui signifie littéralement ligne-tuyau. Bien que Arrow Dynamics et Intamin aient développés leurs versions de l'attraction, ils ne l'ont jamais vraiment exploitée. (fr)

The concept was first developed by Japanese ride company TOGO, and was known as the Ultra Twister. They built six installations of the design, and four are still in operation. Arrow Dynamics created an alternate version of the concept, but it never made it past the prototype stage in development. Intamin also experimented with the pipeline concept and built and relocated one model, known as the Spiral Coaster, but it is no longer operating. Some of the drawbacks of the design include the need for large, uncomfortable over-the-shoulder restraints as well as the obstruction of the riders' view by the enclosed pipe structure. (en)
