- Die Physical Markup Language (PML) ist eine XML-konforme Beschreibungssprache für den Inhalt der über das EPC-Netzwerk (EPC: electronic product code, Elektronischer Produktcode) ausgetauschten Information. PML ist eine standardisierte "Sprache" für die Speicherung von Daten über Objekte, die sowohl von Menschen als auch von Maschinen gelesen werden kann. Damit können Informationen über Zeit, Ort und Umweltbedingungen sowie über die Eigentümer von Objekten gespeichert werden. Die Physical Markup Language wurde vom Auto-ID Center des Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) als Teil ihres RFID-Systems entworfen. (de)
- Physical markup language (PML) is a markup language based on XML for communicating a description of physical environments and the objects within them, their relationships to you, each other and the space. Within a location, the devices (RFID tags) controlled by the PML language act as parts of a browser. Together they render the experience. Each device contains a component that interprets the PML related to the device’s capabilities. The physical markup language (PML) is proposed as a general, standard means for describing physical objects and environments for industrial, commercial and consumer applications. Given the broad scope of this vision, PML is crafted to allow modularity and flexibility. The objective of PML is a simple, general language for describing physical objects for use in monitoring and control of a physical environment – particularly through the Internet. - Physical Markup Language (PML) è un linguaggio di markup basato su XML utilizzato per descrivere oggetti fisici nelle reti. In particolare, questo linguaggio è utilizzato dagli standard RFID per scambiare informazioni.PML si basa su alcuni concetti fondamentali per modellare gli oggetti fisici sul mondo che ci circonda. In particolare è possibile identificare tre concetti:
* Osservatore o sensore: che legge ed analizza le proprietà degli oggetti fisici. Ad esempio questo può essere un lettore RFID oppure un sensore di temperatura.
* Osservato: l'oggetto fisico di cui vengono misurate alcune proprietà.
* Osservazioni: il valore delle proprietà lette dal sensore sull'oggetto osservato, ossia le misure. Quindi gli osservatori eseguono osservazioni sugli osservati. Le proprietà lette vengono analizzate e salvate in un documento XML opportunamente formattato secondo un XML Schema definito nella specifica del Physical Markup Language. (it)
