He is credited with coining the term autoplastie (autoplasty) to describe skin taken from same patient for grafting purposes. He provided an early description of the anterior lingual glands, which are mixed glands of the tongue that are sometimes referred to as "Blandin's glands". His best written effort is an atlas of anatomy and surgery called "Traité d'anatomie topographique" (1834). He was a member of the Académie Nationale de Médecine (surgical pathology section) and the Société anatomique de Paris (vice-president 1827–28). (en)
