Van 1977 tot 1979 was hij, gedurende twee opeenvolgende mandaten, voorzitter van het International Scout and Guide Fellowship World Committee, een internationale oud-scouts- en -gidsenbeweging die ondersteuning biedt aan de wereldorganisatie.
