- Originals (englisch für Originale) ist das zweite von Prince postum erschienene Studioalbum, das am 7. Juni 2019 bei dem Label NPG Records / Warner Bros. Records herausgebracht wurde. Das Album enthält seine Originalversionen von 15 selbstgeschriebenen Songs, die er jedoch nicht selbst veröffentlichte, sondern anderen Künstlern zur Verfügung gestellt hatte. Alle Songs komponierte Prince, zum Teil unter Pseudonymen, in den Jahren 1981 bis 1991; er überließ sie Künstlern wie Apollonia 6, Jill Jones, Kenny Rogers, Martika, Sheila E., The Bangles, The Time und Vanity 6. Die Musik zählt zu den Genres Contemporary R&B, Dance-Pop, Elektronische Popmusik und Funk. Die Liedtexte handeln von Einsamkeit, Liebe, Spiritualität, Sex und Wollust. Als Gastmusiker wirken Saxofonist Eric Leeds, Jesse Johnson, Jill Jones, Morris Day von The Time, Sheila E. und Susannah Melvoin mit. Musikkritiker bewerteten Originals zum Teil sehr positiv, aber aus kommerzieller Sicht konnte das Album nur in wenigen Ländern Top-Ten-Platzierungen erreichen und erzielte international weder Gold- noch Platinstatus.
