- The 1 Second Film ist ein gemeinnütziges und gemeinschaftliches Filmprojekt, das Spenden für den sammeln möchte. Der Name entstand, da der Film exakt eine Sekunde dauern wird. Er besteht aus zwölf von vielen Personen gemalten, großen Einzelbildern, die abgefilmt in schneller Folge gezeigt werden. Der Abspann des Films wird hingegen 90 Minuten lang sein und ein Making-of beinhalten. Jede interessierte Person kann sich für eine Spende ab einem US-Dollar eine Nennung als Produzent im Abspann erkaufen. Im August 2007 hatten sich bereits über 7700 Produzenten beteiligt. Die Macher des Films konnten einige bekannte Hollywood-Stars für ihr Projekt gewinnen, unter anderen Kevin Bacon, Pierce Brosnan und Kiefer Sutherland. Von September 2007 bis November 2007 planten die Macher des Films eine Reise in einem umgebauten Schulbus quer durch die Vereinigten Staaten, um ihr Projekt bekannter zu machen. Weiterhin hofften sie, am Ende dieser Reise von Oprah Winfrey eine symbolische Spende von einem US-Dollar für ihr Projekt zu erhalten. Die Idee für The 1 Second Film entstammt einem Studentenprojekt eines Nirvan Mullick vom California Institute of the Arts, der auch als Regisseur des Films auftritt. Nach der Filmpremiere ist es geplant, die zwölf Einzelbilder zu versteigern. Alle Gewinne aus dem Film sollen dem zukommen. Stand 2021 ist die Webseite des Projektes nicht mehr abrufbar und der Film wurde bisher nicht realisiert. (de)
- The 1 Second Film is an American non-profit collaborative art project. The 1 Second Film began as a student project by Nirvan Mullick in 2001. Receiving contributions from thousands of people around the world, including many celebrities. The project is currently dormant. The film is built around one second of animation (made of 12 large collaborative paintings), and is followed by 1 hour of credits, listing everyone who signs up (regardless of whether a contribution is made or not). A feature-length "making of" documentary will play alongside the credits. The project allows people around the world to participate online, and lists everyone who joins the crew as "Special Thanks" in the film credits. The production relies on crowd funding to raise the budget; everyone who donates or raises US$1 or more gets their name listed as a Producer in the film's credits. The production also gives a Publicist credit to crew members who refer at least one friend. The film currently has over 56,000 crew members from 158 countries. The 1 Second Film is the flagship production of The Collaboration Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization formed to create global collaborative art projects that address various social issues. Once finished, any profits raised by The 1 Second Film will be donated to the Global Fund for Women, an independent charity. The online community being formed by The 1 Second Film project will be able to participate in future Collaboration Foundation projects. In 2016, the director, Nirvan Mullick, posted an update on the project, stating it had been dormant, being put on the "back burner" in 2012, but he planned to revive it shortly, this never happened.
