- Els nictitèrids (Nyctitheriidae) són una família de mamífers insectívors extints de l'ordre dels eulipotifles. Els representants d'aquesta família són coneguts des del Cretaci fins a l'Oligocè. Les restes fòssils dels nictitèrids consisteixen principalment en ossos de la mandíbula i dents. El gènere més antic conegut és Leptacodon, del Cretaci de Portugal. El 2005 es descrigué el gènere , trobat en estrats del Paleocè superior de la Xina. Asionyctia és un dels pocs representants asiàtics dels nictitèrids. La posició dels nictitèrids dins dels eulipotifles és dubtosa. Alguns científics es basen en els escassos fragments d'esquelets, com per exemple l'articulació del turmell per dir que els nictitèrids no pertanyen a aquest ordre. D'altra banda, hi ha científics que consideren els nictitèrids com els avantpassats de les musaranyes, talps o fins i tot els ratpenats. (ca)

- De Nyctitheriidae zijn een familie van uitgestorven insectivore zoogdieren behorend tot de orde der insecteneters (Eulipotyphla). Vertegenwoordigers van deze familie zijn bekend van het Vroeg-Paleoceen tot het Oligoceen. De fossiele resten van de nyctitheriiden bestaan vooral uit kaakbeenderen en tanden. Het oudst bekende geslacht is Leptacodon uit het Vroeg-Paleoceen van Noord-Amerika. In 2005 werd het geslacht beschreven, dat gevonden is in gesteentes uit het Laat-Paleoceen van China. Asionyctia is een van de weinige Aziatische vertegenwoordigers van de Nyctitheriidae. De positie van de Nyctitheriidae binnen de Soricomorpha is twijfelachtig. Sommige wetenschappers vinden op basis van de schaarse skeletfragmenten van onder andere het enkelgewricht dat deze familie niet tot de Soricomorpha gerekend zou moeten worden. Daarnaast zijn er ook wetenschappers die veronderstellen dat de Nyctitheriidae de voorouders van de spitsmuizen, de mollen en zelfs de vleermuizen omvatten. (nl)
