Pakey was appointed CEO of the Peel Airport's Group in 2005. He was awarded IOD Liverpool Director of the Year in 2006 and won the regional business accolade, Downtowner of the Year in Liverpool in 2006. He was recognised with an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Central Lancashire in 2008 for his contribution to tourism and the regional economy. (en)
