- El mapatge natural es refereix al fet que tan similar a la realitat serà l'acció que estem realitzant amb el comandament o l'aparell. Aquest terme és utilitzat per saber que tan usable pot arribar a ser un comandament o qualsevol aparell que es vulgui avaluar; al crear un bon mapatge natural s'evita el fet d'explicar el seu funcionament, ja que l'usuari té un model mental del comandament, generat mitjançant l'experiencia, i intueix com funciona. Un bon mapatge natural, s'adequa el botó a l'acció a realitzar , com a exemple, trobaríem el fet de moure un personatge amb les tecles del teclat WASD, si tinguessin un mapatge diferent i per exemple es mogués cap endavant amb la S en comptes de fer-ho amb la W el mapatge seria dolent, ja que el fet de moure cap endavant amb la tecla que està posicionada “darrere” fa que l'usuari no ho interpreti com a “natural”, fent que, per tant, no sigui usable. Exemples d'on es pot aplicar als videojocs el mapatge natural de manera clara: A un volant per controlar un cotxe, les pistoles dels arcade, ja que, per més que no hàgim fet servir mai una pistola, al conèixer-la gràcies a pel·lícules o series coneixem com funcionen; aleshores en replicar directament el funcionament real que tindria un volant o una pistola al comandament, fa que no hi hagi cap mena de necessitat d'ensenyar a l'usuari com s'utilitza, per tant això crea una immersió dins del joc molt més gran que el que podria crear un comandament normal d'una cónsola.
