- Der NFL Scouting Combine ist eine einwöchige Veranstaltung, die jährlich im Februar im Lucas Oil Stadium (bis 2008 im RCA Dome) in Indianapolis, Indiana stattfindet, bei der American-Football-Spieler, die sich für den kommenden Draft im April des jeweiligen Jahres angemeldet haben, eingeladen werden, um den Verantwortlichen der NFL-Mannschaften ihre athletischen, aber auch psychischen und mentalen Fähigkeiten unter Beweis zu stellen. Mit zunehmendem Interesse am Draft der NFL hat der Combine an Umfang und Bedeutung zugenommen, so dass die Personalchefs die kommenden Nachwuchsspieler in einem standardisierten Rahmen beurteilen können. Athleten dürfen nur auf Einladung teilnehmen. Die Leistung eines Athleten während des Combines kann sich auf seinen Draft-Status, sein Gehalt und letztlich auf seine Karriere auswirken. Der Draft hat den Begriff "Workout-Warrior" populär gemacht, bei dem der "Draft Stock" eines Athleten auf Grundlage überlegener messbarer Eigenschaften wie Größe, Geschwindigkeit und Kraft erhöht wird, obwohl er eine durchschnittliche oder unterdurchschnittliche College-Karriere hat. - The NFL Scouting Combine is a week-long showcase occurring every February at Lucas Oil Stadium (and formerly at the RCA Dome until 2008) in Indianapolis, where college football players perform physical and mental tests in front of National Football League coaches, general managers, and scouts. With increasing interest in the NFL Draft, the scouting combine has grown in scope and significance, allowing personnel directors to evaluate upcoming prospects in a standardized setting. Its origins stem from the National, BLESTO, and Quadra Scouting organizations in 1977. Athletes attend by invitation only. An athlete's performance during the combine can affect their draft status and salary, and ultimately their career. The draft has popularized the term "workout warrior", whereby an athlete's "draft stock" is increased based on superior measurable qualities such as size, speed, and strength, despite having an average or sub-par college career. Pendant une semaine, les joueurs de football américain universitaire effectuent, sur invitation, des tests physiques et mentaux devant des responsables de la National Football League (NFL) : entraîneurs, directeurs généraux et recruteurs. Cela leur permet de montrer leurs compétences en situation afin d'être sélectionnés à la draft de la NFL suivante. Le sprint de 40 yards, la détente verticale, le développé couché, le saut en longueur sans élan, un test de dépistage de drogue, le test Wonderlic et des entretiens comptent par exemple parmi les tests effectués. - La NFL Scouting Combine è un evento sportivo di football americano della durata di una settimana che si tiene ogni anno tra la fine di febbraio e l'inizio di marzo. Durante i giorni dell'evento i capi esecutivi, gli allenatori, i medici e gli scout delle 32 squadre della National Football League (NFL) osservano oltre 300 tra i migliori giocatori provenienti dai vari college del paese che si sottopongono a test attitudinali, medici e prove individuali con l'obiettivo di dimostrare le proprie capacità in vista dell'imminente Draft NFL che si tiene alla fine di aprile. La prima edizione dell'evento si è svolta a Tampa in Florida nel 1982 poi, dopo vari spostamenti, dal 1987 è ospitato dalla città di Indianapolis, dove si terrà almeno fino al 2024. Attualmente l'ultima edizione si è tenuta dal 1° al 7 marzo 2022. (it)

Um bom desempenho no Combine pode significar uma escalada nos rankings do draft, assim como um desempenho trágico pode causar uma queda vertiginosa. Apenas jogadores convidados podem participar do Combine, onde participarão de testes físicos, mentais e por entrevistas, tudo diante dos chefões da NFL.
