- The Little Phatty is a monophonic analog synthesizer manufactured by Moog Music from 2006 to 2013, preceded by the Voyager and succeeded by Voyager Old School. Its design was conceived, in part, by Robert Moog himself, and is the last instrument to have that distinction, although the primary engineer was Cyril Lance. It is also the first Moog product to be produced following his death. Jordan Rudess of the band Dream Theater also assisted with the design of the product. It is one of the few Moog synthesizers to utilize MIDI from the factory (the others being the Minimoog Voyager and the earlier Memorymoog+). This allows for better integration in the modern studio and for live performance. On 9 September 2013, Moog Music announced the discontinuation of the Little Phatty analog synthesizer. (en)

Son design fut conçu, entre autres, par Robert Moog lui-même, il est d'ailleurs le dernier instrument à avoir cette distinction, bien que le principal ingénieur fut Cyril Lance. Il est aussi le premier synthétiseur à être produit après sa mort. Le Little Phatty fait partie des synthétiseurs Moog à utiliser la norme MIDI, les autres étant le Minimoog Voyager, les pédales et, plus récemment, le Memorymoog+. Cela permet notamment une meilleure intégration dans les studios modernes ou encore une utilisation facilitée en concert. Il existe actuellement trois versions du Little Phatty. Outre quelques différences esthétiques, les exemplaires ont quasiment tous la même génération de circuit sonore. L'édition Tribute Edition, limitée à 1 200 unités, inclut par exemple un éclairage par DEL bleues, idéal pour une utilisation dans l'obscurité (comme en concert), des panneaux latéraux en bois et la signature de Bob Moog sur le panneau arrière. La plus récente Stage Edition rajoutait un éclairage orange et rouge, des panneaux caoutchoutés gris et le logo Moog classique remplaçant la signature. La troisième version, dénommée Stage II a quelques légères modifications mécaniques et électriques en plus d'une interface USB, devenant ainsi le premier Moog à offrir une connectivité USB à jour en plus d'une permettant de choisir une ou plusieurs phases d'édition pour en faire un instrument polyphonique. Den finns i två varianter: Tribute Edition, som tillverkades i endast 2000 exemplar, och Stage Edition, som tillverkas löpande. Moog Little Phatty är en analog monofonisk synt med 2 oscillatorer som båda steglöst kan ändras från triangelvåg till sågtandsvåg och vidare till fyrkantsvåg och . Pulsbreddsmodulering kan uppnås genom att skicka LFO till oscillatorerna och på så sätt modulera vidden på rektangelvågen. Tribute Edition har träsidor och Bob Moogs signatur på baksidan medan Stage Edition har sidor i gummi och vanligt Moog-logo. Stage Edition, som tillverkades något senare än Tribute Edition, fick en extra LFO destination vilken innebär att den har något utökad funktionalitet jämfört med Tribute Edition. Då Tribute och Stage Edition har något olika funktionalitet har de också olika operativsystem, vilka uppdateras löpande. För att komma till rätta med analogsyntarnas problem med stämning har Moog gett Little Phatty en automatisk kaliberingsfunktion som håller den stämd. Dock kräver den 10-15 minuters uppvärmning innan stämningen är korrekt och oscillatorerna harmoniserar med varandra. I april/maj 2008 börjar Moog Little Phatty Stage II säljas. De nya funktionerna är: reducerat internt digitalbrus, USB-MIDI, , MIDI Clock sync och tap tempo. Allt förutom reducering av brus och USB-midi kommer att vara tillgängligt för nerladdning till Stage Edition. Den begränsade minneskapaciten på Tribute Edition gör att man behöver uppgradera minnet om man vill ha de nya funktiorna. De kommer även gå att skicka in sin Little Phatty för USB-midi och en ny komponent som ger mindre internt digitalbrus. (sv)
