- Montroc est un village de France situé en Haute-Savoie, sur la commune de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, au fond de la vallée de Chamonix, en rive droite de l'Arve. Avant-dernier village situé juste avant celui du Tour, il se trouve au pied du col des Montets. Montroc est desservi par une gare sur la ligne de Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-Le Fayet à Vallorcine (frontière) située juste avant le tunnel des Montets, ferroviaire et routier (en hiver), traversant sous le col des Montets vers la commune de Vallorcine. Le 9 février 1999, le hameau est touché par une importante avalanche provenant de Peclerey qui provoque la mort de douze personnes et la destruction de quatorze bâtiments du lotissement des Poses.

- Montroc is a hamlet in eastern France, located in the territory of the commune of Chamonix. Several houses at Poses 150m North East of Montroc were destroyed on the 9th of February 1999 by a slab avalanche from Bec du Lachat and Mont Peclerey on the Mont Blanc massif, killing 12 people. In July, 2003, the Mayor of Chamonix, Michel Charlet, received a three-month suspended prison sentence for his part in the handling of events immediately prior to the avalanche. There is a memorial to those lost at site of the avalanche on the road from Montroc to Le Tour. (en)
