Pearson's career first started in Louisville, Kentucky as an anchor and reporter for WHAS-TV, while also working as a reporter for the Louisville Times. When Pearson moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1975, she became the first female and African-American to anchor the evening news at WSB-TV. (en)
