- الشيخ محمد بن حمد بن عبد الله الشرقي كان حاكما لإمارة الفجيرة وهو والد الحاكم الحالي الشيخ حمد بن محمد الشرقي وقد تولى الحكم عام 1942، شارك في تأسيس دولة الاتحاد، وحضر اجتماعات تأسيس دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في 2 ديسمبر 1971 وأصبح عضوا في المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد ووقّع على دستور الدولة. توفي في 18 سبتمبر عام 1974. خلفه ابنه الشيخ حمد بن محمد الشرقي. - Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi (1908 – 6 September 1974) was the Ruler of Fujairah, one of the emirates which today form the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 1938–1974. In 1952 he was to see his father's long-held dream of independence for Fujairah recognised by the British, the last Trucial State to be so recognised, as well as shortly afterwards to help take the UAE to independence as a nation, in 1971. Due to his skills in diplomacy and politics he was called the wolf of the Gulf. (en)
