- Das Megawatt-Ladesystem MCS, von englisch Megawatt Charging System, ist ein Schnellladesystem für die Elektromobilität, hauptsächlich von Lastkraftwagen. Der Standard befindet sich seit 2018 in der Entwicklung, im Juni 2022 wurde der aktuelle Entwicklungsstand öffentlich vorgestellt. Das Ladesystem basiert technisch auf dem Combined Charging System, wird jedoch mit einer neuen MCS Steckerspezifikation eine Ladeleistung bis zu 3,75 MW erlauben. Der Betrieb erfolgt mit Niederspannung von bis zu 1250 V bei einem maximalen Ladestrom von 3000 A. Die Entwicklung wird in Deutschland anhand zweier Pilotprojekte vorangetrieben. Im Projekt werden Ladeparks entlang Autobahn A2 aufgebaut. Der Ersteinsatz erfolgt im Projekt der Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft. In den USA wird im Projekt des Energieministeriums die Technik weiterentwickelt, und eine Teststrecke von Tesla genutzt. (de)

The MCS connector is being advanced by the CharIN organization, with aspirations that it become a worldwide standard charging connector for large and medium commercial vehicles be it on land, water or in the air, but other large vehicle charging interfaces are also progressing and being brought into serial production.
